How the guides are made
Every guide is sourced from official Japanese government pages — the Immigration Services Agency, the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare, ward office websites, and other primary sources. When procedures vary by municipality, the guide says so. When something is uncertain, the guide says that too. Guides are updated when rules change. They’re not published and left to quietly become wrong.

I’m Destiny Fox — founder of Japan Simplified. I moved to Japan in 2011 first as a student, and came back to work in 2013 after graduating college. Since then, my time and experiences in Japan have expanded. I’m a parent, a long-term resident, and someone who has navigated the ward office, the pension system, the health insurance maze, and the particular experience of buying property in Japan (an adventure in its own right).
